The Door County YMCA is launching its Annual Campaign on February 10 to ensure that everyone in Door County has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Every day, the Door County YMCA works to support the people and communities that need it most by addressing issues, such as summer learning loss, chronic diseases and food insecurity.
“Throughout our county, countless people know the Y. But there’s so much more to our Y than one might think,” explains Tom Beerntsen, CEO of the Door County YMCA. “The Y is more than a gym and a pool. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, giving back and providing support to our neighbors. Our Annual Campaign allows us to honor our promise to serve all without regard to financial ability.”
This year, the Door County YMCA hopes to raise $500,000. Funds raised will support Live STRONG, free health fairs, Summer Foods, English Language Learner Classes and financial assistance for those who would not otherwise be able to become members.
Last year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school, for families to reconnect and grow together and for people to access education and training to reach their full potential.
“We will kick-off our Annual Campaign with a full slate of events during ‘My Y Week‘ held at the Northern Door Program Center in Fish Creek and the Sturgeon Bay Program Center beginning February 10 and culminating with ‘Great Food For A Great Cause’ at Alexander’s Restaurant in Fish Creek on Sunday, February 16.”
